Does Plastic Ever Go Away?

Plastic doesn't biodegrade. Instead, it degrades into microplastics over the course of 200 years, to a size of 5mm or less, before accumulating in the bodies and tissues of many organisms.

  • Cook More & Avoid Single-Use Plastics

    By cooking more, you avoid the single-use to-go containers frequently used by restaurants. If ordering takeout, request no unnecessary plastic, like utensils!

  • Switch from Plastic to Glass

    Meal prep is a great way to stay healthy, ditch the plastic food storage containers and opt in for glass ones!

  • Volunteer & Clean Local Waterways

    Various organizations, like Ocean Conservancy, organize local cleanup programs to help rid beaches of unnecessary trash. In 2017, In 2017, 800,000 Ocean Conservancy volunteers collectively removed more than 20 million pieces of trash from beaches and waterways around the world.
